I am writing this letter to highly recommend Touch Legal as a Correctional Kiosk technology vendor.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) recently completed the successful installation of deployment 249 Touch Legal Correctional Grade Touch Screen Kiosks for use by Administrative Segregation Unit inmates within 33 prisons state-wide. The law library kiosks are used to deliver more than 48 gigabytes of California State and Federal Case Law, codes, statutes, treatises and other legal materials and documents dating back to 1865.

The solution provided by Touch Legal allows CDCR to leverage turnkey law library kiosk technology to manage the risk and expense associated with providing safe, secure access to law library materials to Administrative Segregation Unit inmates.

CDCR has benefited enormously from our Law Library Touch Screen Kiosk Initiative, including but not limited to:

• Achieving full compliance with California State and Federal mandates for “inmate access to the courts”
• Reducing time and cost of escorting high security inmates to the prison libraries.
• Reducing inmate complaints and costly litigation

Touch Legal successfully collaborated with the Division of Rehabilitative Programs (DRP), Office of Correctional Education, (OCE), Enterprise Information Services (EIS) and Division of Adult Institutions(DAI) to develop a seamless project plan which was executed precisely, timely and within budget. From the outset of this initiative, Touch Legal has exceeded our expectations for customer and technical service. Moreover, they have always promptly and efficiently honored their warranty, and the product in actual use in the prisons, has proved extremely durable, so that very few warranty claims have even arisen. In addition, Mr. Brad Plaschke and his team, as a matter of course, always have promptly returned phone calls to provide whatever assistance is needed. They routinely go the “extra mile” for their customer.

I would highly recommend Touch Legal as a correctional kiosk partner for future correctional touch screen kiosk initiatives.
