TST Monitor Terminal
The TST Monitor Terminal is designed to supplement the TST LL Touchscreen Unit to provide a lower cost electronic law library delivery system. This system employs both touchscreen units and monitor/mouse workstations to meet budget limitations. The combination of these two hardware packages allows a custom designed system to be developed for each facility in your agency. Both hardware packages deliver the legal data with the same simple user interface that makes research fast and easy even for inmates that are not computer literate. This software is designed to be used by persons with a seventh grade education. Inmates and staff are able to operate either component of the system with only a basic training on system operations. The TST server networks with the Touchscreen Units and the Monitor Terminals in any combination and quantity of the two hardware packages. This network operates as a closed system and has no off site connection of any type.
How the Monitor Terminal system works
The inmate/user sits at a table and views the data delivery system on a monitor. There is a mouse attached to the table in front of the monitor. The virtual keyboard displays on the monitor (meaning no external keyboard is required). The system server and the workstation CPU are located away from the inmate workstation or in a secure enclosure near the workstation. The inmate/user researches the TST/LexisNexis data with the same process as the Touchscreen user except the mouse moves the cursor on the screen and clicks on an image instead of the finger tapping on the touch screen.
