Are the TST units available via a complete outsource program?
YES - TST offers its products to government agencies on outsource basis which eliminates the need for a large capital expenditure by the customer.
How is the unit updated?
Publisher's data is updated on any mutually agreed upon schedule four(4) times per year. All updates are provided by TST to the customer. This eliminates any question of customer compliance as required by law.
How does the TST system help reduce costs?
This system can reduce costs as follows:
- Location of units in key cellblock locations can reduce prisoner escort costs.
- Administrative costs associated with book handling, distribution, payment processing and replacement are replaced by a single TST payment.
- Copying of data from books is replaced by printing of data from the kiosks. This can generate income as most agencies charge inmates for each printed page.
- Prisoner information booklets and legal forms can be published on TST kiosks saving $1000s in print, storage, and distribution expense.
Can the TST unit eliminate agency concerns about availability of the law data to the inmate?
YES - The updating of the publisher's data to the units (as mandated by the court) makes the information more readily available and easier to research than by book. The inmate log-in creates a record that can be useful in dealing with possible frivolous inmate litigation based on lack of access to law data issues
If a power shortage occurs, can the unit be restarted? If so, how long will it take?
A reboot key mechanism located on the bottom of the unit allows a restart only minutes.
Can someone gain access to the Internet through this unit?
NO - TST units send and receive data only to and from our secure servers.
If the unit needs repair, do we lose it for weeks?
NO - All key components of the unit are easily replaceable on site for quick repair (as is the entire unit).
If the unit is abandoned midway through program, will it reset itself?
The unit returns to the main screen after 5 minutes of inactivity.
How secure is the unit? Can people hack in & steal information?
No.
Is there any danger of the lock being picked on the unit?
No.
If the information is stored on the server, who owns that information?
TST stores the client's data. The customer owns it and is responsible for accuracy and content.
